| The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 (S.A.F.E. Act) mandates a federal registry for Patriot Federal Credit Union's mortgage loan originators and their employing institutions to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS). The SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act is written to enhance consumer protection and reduce fraud by encouraging states to establish minimum standards for the licensing and registration of state-licensed mortgage loan originators. It establishs and maintains a nationwide mortgage licensing system and registry for the residential mortgage industry.
