    Understanding Your Credit Score

    Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 6:00 pm
    Chambersburg Corporate Center Training Room
    1330 S. 7th Street, Chambersburg

While no one wants to be treated like a number, the truth is your credit score determines how lenders treat you as a potential borrower. But this number can cause an impact beyond the lending process - employers and insurance companies have also been known to consider this number when it comes to offering employment and determining insurance premiums. But what factors are used to calculate this "mysterious" number? For this seminar, we are bringing in an expert to talk about the intricacies of the credit score. You will have the opportunity to learn basics as well as some little known facts on how this number is determined and how you can improve or "hurt" your score.

    • Do you have trouble saving money?
    • Do you wonder where all your money goes each month?
    • Is there too much month at the end of the money?
Over 50% of American households report living paycheck to paycheck. Coincidentally, this is about the same number of households that do not manage their finances with a budget. This critical piece in reaching financial success is sometimes the most challenging. While many people consider a budget to mean being restricted, it is quite the opposite. A budget can provide the means (and freedom) to do what you want to do without the stress of feeling like your finances are out of control. However, developing a budget is not a one-size-fits-all; each household is different. We will review approaches to developing and managing a budget. This seminar will provide the tools and techniques for creating a budget, to determine how much income to allocate for particular expenses, how to monitor your budget, and why all members of the family are important to maintaining a budget.

How to Buy a Pre-owned Car

    Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 6:00 - 7:30pm
    Patriot's Corporate Center Training Room
    1330 S. 7th Street, Chambersburg

After buying a home, the 2nd biggest financial decision is usually buying a car. While many people dream of owning a brand new car, most often a pre-owned vehicle is the most prudent financial option. While there is always a risk in buying something, you can minimize those risks by learning what to look for when shopping for your next (or first) set of wheels. Additionally, if you are like most people, you will want to make sure you get the best financing terms for your auto loan. In this seminar we will cover what factors to keep in mind when considering buying a car and how to inspect a used car to minimize potential problems. Additionally, we will review the financing process and cover some of the pitfalls that can cost you more money, including the risks of the "buy here, pay here" financing option.
