What is the difference between a Credit Union and a Bank?
By definition, a credit union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative. Since we are not-for-profit, members usually earn higher dividends on savings and pay lower interest rates on loans. We also tend to have lower fees than banks. In addition, all loan decisions are made locally, right here in your community. Deposits provide money for members who need loans, proving our long-standing philosophy of “people helping people.”
Just like a bank is insured by the FDIC, credit unions are insured by the NCUA, or the National Credit Union Association, for up to $250,000.
- Access to TruStage Insurance
- Member discount at Liberty Mutual Insurance

- Ability to enter our annual Baumunk Scholarship Competition for rising college students
- Invitation to our annual shred days
We are also committed to keeping you informed on important consumer issues. When there are regulatory or legal changes in financial services, we believe you need to know what they are and how they will impact your own financial affairs. We will provide ways for you to have your voice heard by regulators, legislators and other elected officials.
