Over a 10-week period recently, nine teams consisting of more than 50 Patriot Federal Credit Union employees, participated in a “Biggest Loser Challenge” designed to promote and encourage healthier food choices, encourage exercise and ultimately to lose weight. The Patriot teams collectively lost a total of 450 pounds, with the winning team called “Mission Slim-possible” losing 6.5% of their total weight over the span of the challenge. Patriot employees donated a $1 for each pound lost, and along with other donations, were able to collect a total of $613 to benefit the Healthy Communities Partnership (HCP) of Greater Franklin County.
“We really appreciate the healthy lifestyle choices Patriot employees made during the challenge as well as the donation,” said Karen Johnston, Executive Director of HCP of Greater Franklin County. We plan to use the funds to support our kids’ POP program.” The HCP’s “Kids Power of Product (POP) Club, is a nationally-recognized kids program that introduces kids to where their food comes from and empowers them to make healthy food choices. The program is geared toward kids ages 4-12 who are given a “Passport to Health” that is stamped every time they visit the North Square Famers Market in Chambersburg to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and food plants.
