Penn State Mont Alto to host LION Tank Competition

Selecting aspiring entrepreneurs to pitch business ideas in Shark-Tank-like event

The Mont Alto LaunchBox – a business incubator funded by Penn State’s Invent Penn State initiative – will host is inaugural micro-grant pitch competition, LION Tank, on March 16, at Penn State Mont Alto from 6 to 7:30 pm.  The event is sponsored by Patriot Federal Credit Union in Chambersburg.  It is open to the public and free of charge.  Registered audience members are eligible to win prizes.  To register go to

Five aspiring entrepreneurs have been selected to compete in LION Tan, a “Shark-tank-like” competition.  The business ideas will be presented by Penn State Mont Alto students, a Penn State alumnus, and members of the Franklin County community and include a variety of products and services in varying industries. The top two will be awarded mini-grants of $1,000 and $1,500, get one year’s access to the Mont Alto LaunchBox facility, and receive additional services to help launch their products into the market.

The Mont Alto LaunchBox, located at 40 North Second Street in Chambersburg, provides resources and support to entrepreneurs in a free co-working space to help early-stage and more advances startups build a sustainable and scalable business and a viable plan for growth.  It is open to the Penn State community and the general public from noon to 4 pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
