For a teen to open a checking account, there needs to be a responsible adult as a joint owner. The adult will be responsible for all activity on the checking account. If they are opening a new membership at the same time as the checking account, please see the “What do I need to open an account for my child?” question above for requirements. If they already have a membership and they are adding a checking account, they won’t need to provide anything else. Various products and services will be available based on the age of the minor. Checking accounts for minors can be opened online when they are between the ages of 13 and 17. Simply use our secure online form to get started.

No, there aren’t any balance requirements, but we do require that you are a member in Good Standing at the time of the Sweepstakes entry and as of the last day of the Sweepstakes Period.
New Youth Account Sweepstakes Official Rules
INSURED BY NCUA. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF WINNING. MINORS, INDIVIDUALS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN’S PERMISSION BEFORE ENTERING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
The Sponsor of this Sweepstakes is Patriot Federal Credit Union which may be referred to as Patriot or Credit Union in these Official Rules.
- SWEEPSTAKES PERIOD:
The Sweepstakes begins at 12:00 a.m. ET on September 30, 2024, and ends at 12:00 p.m. ET on December 28, 2024 (“Sweepstakes Period”). Credit Union’s computer system is the official time keeping device for the Sweepstakes.
- ELIGIBILITY:
The Sweepstakes is open to any current or prospective member of Credit Union (a) who is a member in Good Standing (hereinafter defined) at the time of Sweepstakes entry and as of the last day of the Sweepstakes Period (b) who is a permanent legal resident of one of the fifty (50) states of the United States of America or the District of Columbia (“U.S.”); and (c) has a valid U.S. street address (no PO boxes).
ELIGIBILITY FOR MINOR CHILDREN AND TEENS. To enter the sweepstakes a minor or teen must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian (“Parent”) prior to entering. When a Parent’s permission is granted, each such entry will be deemed as submitted by the Parent and if chosen as a winner of the Weekly Prize or Grand Prize, as applicable, Patriot will deposit the Prize into the winner’s Prime Savings Account. Such deposit shall be deemed to be with the consent of and at the direction of the Parent.
The Sweepstakes is void outside the eligible sweepstakes area and territory and where prohibited or restricted by applicable law. All Sweepstakes entrants must be a Credit Union member in Good Standing at the time of Sweepstakes entry, remain a member in Good Standing through the Sweepstakes Period, be a member in Good Standing as of the last day of the Sweepstakes Period, and remain a member in Good Standing at time of the award announcement. A Credit Union member in “Good Standing” is determined solely by Credit Union and is a member who has at least one share account with Credit Union, has not defaulted on any payment obligations to Credit Union, has no charge-off with Credit Union, and is not determined to be in a delinquency status with Credit Union. For purposes of clarification, individual members and named account owners or loan holders (i) who are sixty (60) days or more delinquent on any loan payments or are considered in default; (ii) who have a charged-off debt at Credit Union for any account or loan, or (iii) who are subject to a levy, garnishment, bankruptcy proceedings, or other legal debt or have a legal hold on their account(s) are not considered members in Good Standing and will be disqualified from winning the Sweepstakes.
Employees of Credit Union, its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising/promotional agencies, Board members, officers, volunteers, contractors, subcontractors and all related immediate families and household members of such persons (including, but not limited to parents, children, spouses, in-laws, and siblings or persons living in the same household) are not eligible for entry into or for winning the Sweepstakes. This Sweepstakes is intended solely for viewing and participation in the United States and shall be construed and evaluated solely under United States federal, state and local laws. By entering, entrants certify that they meet all eligibility requirements.
Any potential Sweepstakes winner will be subject to verification of eligibility and be required to sign an affidavit of compliance with these Official Rules, including an authorization for the release of his or her social security number for tax reporting purposes. Any potential award winner will be required to complete an Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) Form W-9 for income tax reporting purposes and the potential winner must further be able to present a valid (unexpired) U.S. federal or state picture identification to claim the award. The announced winner must reply to Credit Union and supply the necessary information and completed forms and information within ten (10) calendar days of the first notification from Credit Union or its agent. Failure of any potential winner to reply and communicate with Credit Union, and return the required affidavit, IRS form, and other verification requirements to Credit Union within the 10 calendar day time-frame from the initial attempted contact by Credit Union will be determined to have automatically forfeited any award. In the event of award forfeiture, when the potential winner fails to reply within the 10- day time-frame, an announced winner is unreachable by phone, the award goes unrecognized, the potential winner fails to complete and provide all requirements and forms, or if an announced winner declines the award, then Credit Union is authorized to randomly select an alternate potential winner to receive the award. All potential winners are subject to the requirements of these Official Rules and any failure to comply with the Official Rules shall deem any potential winners ineligible and/or considered a forfeiture of the award. In the event of any dispute as to the identity of the potential winner, the potential winner shall be required to identify their eligibility as a primary member in Good Standing with Credit Union and further verify their identity with a valid identification as required by these Official Rules.
- HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST:
There is no purchase or transaction necessary to win the Sweepstakes. There are three (3) ways to enter the Sweepstakes.
[1] Automatic Entry Method: New accounts opened for youth ages 17 and under by making a deposit of $5 or more into a new Patriot Prime Share Savings will be automatically entered. When a Parent completes the account documentation similar transaction information, that is deemed to be consent for a minor to be entered into the sweepstakes.
[2] Written Entry at Branch. Visit any Patriot branch and complete a written entry form (“Written Entry”). There is no purchase necessary to submit a Written Entry. A Written Entry must be received by close of business on the applicable Friday during the Sweepstakes Period to be eligible for that particular Weekly Prize. A Written Entry must contain the Parent’s consent for a minor to enter the Sweepstakes. Consent forms will be provided at a Patriot Branch. A Written Entry must be received by 12:00 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024, to be eligible for the Grand Prize. Only one Written Entry per eligible member permitted for the Sweepstakes Period.
[3] Postcard Entry. Complete a postcard and return to Credit Union, ATTN: Marketing, Laura Meyers. Only one Postcard Entry per eligible member permitted for the Sweepstakes Period. Additional entries received in excess of stated limitation will be void. Mechanically or digitally reproduced entries, or those made using script, macro, sweepstakes service, automated entry software, or facsimiles are automatically void. The postcard must contain the full name, mailing address, email address, and telephone number of the entrant and the Parent. The postcard must contain the following consent language and be signed by the Parent: “By signing the postcard Sweepstakes entry, I certify and consent that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor child named and I am allowing my child to participate in the Sweepstakes. I understand I can obtain a copy of the Official Rules by visiting https://www.patriotfcu.org/new-youth-accounts/. I hereby give Patriot permission to collect and use the Entry information for participation in the Sweepstakes and for the operation or maintenance of any account-related service.” Postcard Entries that do not contain all of the required information are void and will not be eligible for random selection for any Prize.
All participants in the Sweepstakes must be members in Good Standing with Credit Union and must meet the eligibility requirements stated within these Official Rules. All entries are the property of Credit Union and will not be acknowledged or returned. Credit Union is not responsible for entries that are lost, late, stolen, damaged, postage-due, undelivered, misdirected, returned, illegible or otherwise deficient, incomplete or not received for any reason. Credit Union, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the administration, security, proper play or entry process of this Sweepstakes or otherwise in violation of these Official Rules. Patriot reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any promotion not capable of completion as planned, including, without limitation, by tampering, unauthorized intervention or force majeure.
Patriot may use, and the entrant expressly consents to the use of, any and all information and data provided by the Sweepstakes entrant as part of their entry into the Sweepstakes for Patriot marketing and other legal purposes by Patriot or any of its divisions, affiliates, and partners.
By submitting a Written or Postcard Entry Form and/or not rejecting an automatic entry in writing binds you to these Official Rules. All Written or Postcard Entries must meet the requirements of these Official Rules and are subject to all of the terms of these Official Rules.
- AWARD:
Weekly Prizes
The Sweepstakes Period begins September 30 and ends December 28, 2024. A weekly prize of $100 will be awarded to one winner selected by Patriot in a random drawing of all eligible entries received by the close of business on the Friday of the applicable week. By way of example, the first weekly prize will be drawn on Monday, October 7. Eligible entries must be received by close of business on September 4. The Weekly Prize will be deposited into the winner’s Prime Savings Account by January 15, 2025. There will be one drawing for Weekly Prizes during the Sweepstakes Period.
If the potential winner is an individual who submitted a Written Entry or mailed a Postcard Entry and does not have an account with Patriot, a voucher will be provided to that selected winner as an offer to establish membership with Patriot.
Grand Prize
There is one Grand Prize of $500. The Grand Prize will be awarded by random drawing from all eligible entries received during the Sweepstakes Period. All entries must be received by 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
The selection of the winner will be determined by Patriot through a random application and/or computer drawing based off a list of eligible Sweepstakes entrants on Credit Union’s system. Patriot’s announcement and award to a winner shall be final and binding. The Sweepstakes award may not be substituted, transferred, or exchanged to any other person or member or for any other award, amount, cash value, or benefit. Odds of winning will be determined by the number of eligible entries received by Credit Union. The winner will be notified at the number provided on the Written or Postcard Entry form or from the members account records. The winner must provide Credit Union with any information, including social security number, necessary to complete IRS Form 1099 or a similar format the time the prize is accepted in order to accept the prize or the prize may be forfeited. Failure to complete prize acceptance or failure to comply within six (6) days will result in forfeiture of prize. If prize is forfeited, Patriot may award the prize alternate winner will be selected through subsequent drawing(s) of remaining entries at its sole discretion. Prizes not accepted by January 20th, 2025. will not be awarded.
- RESTRICTIONS:
An entrant will receive one (1) entry for each qualifying account, the Automated Entry Method. Eligible members will automatically be entered into the Sweepstakes based on the guidelines stated in Section 3, above. Only one (1) entry will be allowed if entering the Sweepstakes through use of the Written or Postcard Entry Form. ALL WRITTEN OR POSTCARD ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY PATRIOT BY CLOSE OF BUSINESS ON THE APPLICABLE FRIDAY TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A WEEKLY PRIZE DRAWING. ANY ELIGIBLE ENTRY MUST BE RECEIVED BY PATRIOT BY 12:00 PM ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 28, 2024, TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE GRAND PRIZE DRAWING. Any subsequent entries or multiple entries determined to be submitted in violation of these Official Rules will be discarded as ineligible. Eligible members with an automatic sweepstakes entry will take priority over any mailed-in entries by that same eligible member; duplicate Written Entries or Postcard Entries will be discarded. Credit Union reserves the right and has the power to discard multiple and/or subsequent entries in violation of these Official Rules. At any time you may be asked to verify your entry information and validate your eligibility. Any illicit, illegal, or other dishonest activity to undermine or tamper with the legitimate operation of this Sweepstakes by any person or related person to an eligible person by cheating, hacking, deception, or other practices or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Credit Union entities will invalidate such person’s eligibility to win.
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY:
Patriot, its divisions, affiliates, partners, agents, representatives, employees, officers, directors, and sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, mutilated, delayed, inaccurate, incomplete, postage due, misdirected entries, miscommunications, failed telephone or computer transmissions, or for other errors, omissions, interruptions, or deletions of any kind whether human, mechanical, or electronic or for any damage to any person or person’s property related to participating in the Sweepstakes. Persons found tampering with, abusing any aspect of the Sweepstakes or entries or violating these Official Rules, will be disqualified and may be subject to prosecution.
Any attempt to undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil law and for any such attempt, Credit Union, its affiliates, sponsors, and partners reserve the right to seek damages and other remedies from any such person(s) responsible for the attempt to the fullest extent permitted by law.
In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a potential winner or entry based on an automatic entry, the winning entry will be declared made by the member who is the primary share account holder, as determined solely by Credit Union’s records.
IN NO EVENT WILL PATRIOT OR ANY OF ITS DIVISIONS, AFFILIATES, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, SPONSORS, AGENTS, REPRESENTATIVES, AND PARTNERS BE RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES, CLAIMS, OR LOSSES OF ANY KIND, INCLUDING DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF ANY PARTICIPATION OR ENTRY IN THIS SWEEPSTAKES OR THE ACCEPTANCE OR USE OR MISUSE OF ANY AWARD.
Any disputes arising out of the Sweepstakes or these Official Rules will be governed in accordance with applicable federal laws and the laws of the state of Pennsylvania. Any disputes will be settled in the district, jurisdiction, and venue of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. ALL ENTRANTS WAIVE THEIR RIGHT TO A JURY TRIAL AND ADDITIONALLY WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO FORM AND/OR BRING A CLASS ACTION IN RELATION TO THIS SWEEPSTAKES TO THE EXTENT NOT PROHIBITED BY U.S. FEDERAL OR PENNSYLVANIA LAW.
Entrants and participants in the Sweepstakes (eligible or ineligible entrants and participants), shall not be entitled to claim, request, or receive any consequential, punitive, indirect, direct, special, incidental, or other damages for any reason. In the event of any damages awarded, such shall be strictly limited to direct and actual out-of-pocket expenses and costs, regardless of cause or reason. These limitations are void where prohibited. Credit Union and its divisions, affiliates, partners, sponsors, representatives, and agents expressly disclaim any and all liability, indirect or direct, regarding the entrant’s participation in the Sweepstakes, including but not limited to any chances of winning, and do not make any warranties of any kind as part of the Sweepstakes. Each entrant agrees to release, indemnify, and hold harmless Credit Union and any of its affiliates, sponsors, employees, volunteers, officers, directors, representatives, agents, and partners from and against any and all liability, claims, causes of action, losses, injury, demands, or damages (regardless of action, cause, or participation) resulting from the entrant’s actions, inactions, or participation in the Sweepstakes.
- GENERAL:
All eligible entrants represent that they have read these Official Rules and agree to be fully bound by them. If you do not wish to be automatically entered into this Sweepstakes based on the Automated Entry Method described above, please notify Credit Union at 888-777-9982 or through one of our conveniently located branches and provide us with a written statement of your desire to not be entered into the Sweepstakes.
Only one (1) award will be awarded to a verified and eligible member and the award decision will be final. The winner will be randomly selected from the list of eligible entrants maintained on the Credit Union system. The potential winner will be notified by phone on or around January 15, 2025. If any potential winner randomly selected is disqualified, found to be ineligible, is not in compliance with these Official Rules, or fails to personally respond to Credit Union within ten (10) calendar days of the initial phone notification from Credit Union or its representative, then Credit Union reserves the right to disqualify the winner and randomly select another potential winner. If the foregoing occurs, then the initial potential winner will be considered to have forfeited their award. Potential winners do not need to be present to win. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible entries on the Credit Union system.
The official winner will be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility and compliance to these Official Rules, fill out an IRS Form W-9, sign a Consent and Liability Release Form, and agree to pay all applicable federal and state taxes, fees, and costs to receive his or her award. The official winner who accepts the award grants Credit Union the right to use the official winner’s name, address, photograph, and likenesses for advertising, promotional, and publicity purposes.
Any personally identifiable information received, provided, or collected for purposes of the Sweepstakes will be protected in accordance with Credit Union’s privacy policy located at https://www.patriotfcu.org/privacy-security-policy/ Credit Union reserves the right to cancel, suspend, terminate, and/or modify the Sweepstakes and these Official Rules, in whole or in part, if any fraud, technical failures, viruses, tampering, defects, illegality, or any other factor beyond Credit Union’s control occurs or impairs the integrity of the Sweepstakes. Applicable U.S. federal and Pennsylvania state laws apply to this Sweepstakes and these Official Rules. All award amounts will be reported as taxable income to the official winner. All federal, state and local taxes imposed by acceptance of the award are solely the responsibility of the official winner and the official winner is responsible for the reporting and payment of any such award amount.
