The Martin family – Dean and Mike, owners of Sunnyway Foods, Inc., and Patriot Federal Credit Union jointly announced that they have entered into an agreement in which the credit union will purchase the property at the corner of Williamson Avenue and North Antrim Way to place a full-service branch.

“There has been quite a bit of chatter in the community since the Rite Aid store closed next door,” remarked Dean Martin, owner of Sunnyway Foods, Inc., Greencastle. “I can now confirm that we’ve been working with Patriot on a mutually beneficial partnership.  We believe that in addition to bringing a local financial organization to benefit the community, the development of the property with a Patriot branch will enhance the area and improve traffic flow for our customers. We’re looking forward to having them as our next-door neighbor here in Greencastle.”

The property is on a portion of the former Eshelman Farm, which served as the original location of Sunnyway Foods grocery store in 1955.  The building most recently was occupied by Rite Aid, which closed the drug store’s Greencastle location in February.  The credit union plans on removing the existing structure and constructing a new modern facility on the site.

“We are very excited to partner with the Martin family to purchase this property for our future Greencastle Branch,” commented Ron Celaschi, president of Patriot. “For several years our team has been identifying potential sites for a branch, and we believe that this location provides a fantastic opportunity for us to build a new branch to serve the financial needs of the local community and our strong member base in Greencastle and the surrounding area.”

The sale and transfer of property is expected to be finalized following municipal and regulatory approvals and appropriate due diligence.  Upon completion of the sale, Patriot will announce detailed plans for the site on which a credit union branch is being planned, including a tentative opening date.
